My First Year In Heaven

I gained my wings a year ago,
And flew to heaven from down below.

I had to leave real quick, you see—
God was calling, he needed me.

I have a job up here to do,
And part of it is guiding you.

I know you miss me, oh so much,
But trust me you can feel my touch.

When the wind blows by in gentle ways,
When the sun shines down with warming rays.

There are always signs of me
In all you do and all you see.

I’m rainbows painted in the sky.
I’m hummingbirds that pass you by.

I am with you everyday;
I’m never, ever far away.

Thank you, Mom, and thank you, Dad,
For giving me all I had.

I lived a life so full of love,
And feel it here from up above.

Please live for me while down on earth.
Love and learn for all it’s worth.

I will guide you along the way;
Talk to me, and continue to pray.

We will meet before too long;
In the meantime, God will keep you strong.
